Borrow House Washing, Painting Equipment Free this Summer

Would you like to borrow some tools to help you wash or paint your house in this perfect summer weather?

Do we have a deal for you!

Thanks to a generous donation by COSMO Mill in Cosmopolis, we have lots of equipment we can loan out free of charge.

So, if you are planning to wash or paint your house, and would like to borrow our pump sprayers and long-handled brushes for the job, give us a call. We also have tools such as scrapers, wire brushes, drop clothes, buckets and ladder stand-off attachments for safety.

In fact, just last week we gathered the tools into multiple kits to make it even easier for folks to borrow them.

In this climate, most houses need to be painted every four to seven years. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – a good paint job not only approves the appearance of your home and your neighborhood, it also protects your house from mold, rot and bug infestations, lengthening the life of your major investment!

What many folks don’t know is that even washing your house can make a huge difference! A good annual scrub can save years on your paint job, plus often noticeably improving the appearance of your house.

We recommend you buy some 30 Second Cleaner and use a little elbow grease and your tools or ours to at least give your house a good bath even if you’re not going to paint this year.

Just call us here at NeighhborWorks of Grays Harbor from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday at (360) 533-7828 to reserve the equipment.

 SOUTH ABERDEEN SURVEY

Last week our column focused on the “Community Impact Measurement” survey that we’re conducting in South Aberdeen.

We’re hoping to contact the 780 households in the neighborhood (including families living in multi-unit buildings) to ask them questions about themselves, their home and their neighborhood.

The neighborhood that we are surveying is west of Boone Street to the river and from the bridge to the Westport highway.

Three years ago we conducted a survey in that area and it’s time again to see what kinds of changes have occurred there.

The 38-question-long survey takes about 15 minutes or less.

In addition to the written survey, we have gathered observations about what exists on every block in this neighborhood.

We will be coming door to door in this area soon and wanted to give South Aberdeen residents a heads up.

If you happen to live in this designated area, be on the lookout for our community volunteers led by Curtis Steinhauer who will be gathering your input door to door or at various public places – neighborhood stores, churches, etc. – working to contact as many people as possible who live within the neighborhood boundaries.

The survey can be taken online by using a link on our Facebook page. Also, people can stop by the south side Dennis Company to pick up a copy. And, of course people can also pick up a copy at the NeighborWorks office on 710 E Market Street, or can call the office at 533-7828 to
 have one sent to them.

 A LITTLE BACKGROUND

NeighborWorks of Grays Harbor is a non-profit organization and a charter member of NeighborWorks America. We are one of 245 organizations in the country working to strengthen our community neighborhoods.

Our mission is to “develop partnerships in the community between business, government, and residents to create safe and affordable housing opportunities for all residents of Grays Harbor County.”

In the last few years, our national organization has asked that each of the local organizations survey a neighborhood to see if the efforts of our work are being seen and felt.

After gathering this information three years ago, we’re eager to see how the neighborhood has changed, but also how the residents feel about their neighborhood from three years ago.
